Our ORIGIN Story
DCLA is the expansion of District Christian Academy in Sacramento, CA. DCA is a K-12 Entrepreneurial Leadership Academy where kids know they are loved & capable, drive their own lives, and discover their purpose & next steps. We do that through proven 21st-century learning models injected with faith in Christ and a biblical worldview. Those key models are Project-Based, Peer-to-Peer, Christ-Centered, Family-Focused, & Whole-Human.
DCA is leading the way to create a life-prep school for Christian families that puts parents in the driver’s seat of their family, the student in the driver’s seat of his or her life, and Christ at the center of our school. The result is happy, confident kids ready to take risks & actually grow.
DCLA is our new offer to high school aged teens around the country to experience this growth, no matter where you live. The DCLA experience is a real-world integrated experience blending digital learning and community with in-person experiences, travel, and adventure. More than school, it’s a network of driven Christian students around the country learning together to discover their purpose and next steps.

What is a Guide?
At DCLA, we don’t have teachers. We have Guides. These are men and women who are here to give direction to your student through their educational life prep, faith journey.
What does a DCLA student look like?
Humble + Hungry + Healthy + Happy = Well-Rounded Student. This is the student we want and seek to equip here at DCLA.
What makes DCLA different from other online schools?
We value face time and building trust between guides and students. That’s why we fly students out to DCA HQ to meet their peers and guides and then go on mission together! Through the school year, we have intentional daily video based check ins and discussions that foster a thriving digital experience. We’re about adding value to their daily life rather than becoming another reason to be behind a screen.
How are parents involved at DCLA?
DCLA is here to walk alongside parents & families as they navigate their students’ learning journey. Parents are a huge part of what makes our school unique by sharing their own life skills & passions with our students. They can work collaboratively with Guides & staff to ensure their student’s experience is individualized.
What does project-based learning look like at DCLA?
We challenge our students to “Do Hard Things” by taking on innovative projects or initiatives alongside their educational learning. In the past, our students have started businesses, led classes, created inventions, shadowed industry mentors, and more.
How is the school year structured?
The school year is broken up into:
- Week 1 - Guatemala Mission Trip!
- Five Sprints (Each sprint is 5-6 weeks long). Between each sprint is a 1-2 week break.
- Last week of school - Tahoe Leadership Retreat
What do the courses look like at DCLA?
Students have access to numerous online curriculum that is included in their tuition. On first onboarding at DCLA, they will work with their guide to develop a student journey that incorporates classes from top-tier Christian school, Liberty University.

Apply for Admission
As soon as you know DCLA is a good fit for your family and teen's goals and values, apply! Applications are open for next Fall. It requires some work. The first half is for parents, the second half is for your student.
